Over five thousand people were currently in hospital with the disease, a huge rise compared with just fifty last year
I'm Matt Jones with news that the health secretary has said that England is suffering its worst 'flu season for a decade. Steve Barclay was speaking in parliament yesterday afternoon. He said that over five thousand people were currently in hospital with the disease, a huge rise compared with just fifty last year. It comes at a bad time for the NHS because of a combination of staff shortages, COVID, 'flu and blockages in the social care system. The government plans to block-book residential health care beds to relieve the pressure. For more care stories, stay with us here on Care Radio.
