Unpaid carers in Northern Ireland are being left behind as a new employment law comes into force in the rest of the UK.
I'm Nick Meir with news that unpaid carers in Northern Ireland are being left behind as a new employment law comes into force in the rest of the UK, campaigners say. The law gives those caring for sick or disabled relatives or friends a right to five days' annual, unpaid leave. It does not cover Northern Ireland as employment rules are devolved. The Department for the Economy said it intends to bring forward an employment rights bill and that the right to carer's leave will be considered. But charity Carers NI said one in three local carers are leaving work because of caring demands.
