There are over 165,000 vacancies within the care sector at the moment, that's an increase of 52 percent from last year
I'm Matt Jones with news that there are over 165,000 vacancies within the care sector at the moment, that's an increase of 52 percent from last year, and it's affecting the quality of care that vulnerable people receive. Analysis by the Guardian newspaper shows that staff shortages were found to be a key problem in three-quarters of all care homes in England that were rated inadequate by Care Quality Commission inspections. Many workers have left the sector for less stressful, better-paid jobs in supermarkets, hospitality and factory work, according to the report.
