I'm John Warburton with news that increasing social care costs are being cited as one of the main reasons for predictions of a local council’s £10m overspend. The local democracy reporting service says Shropshire Council’s director for resources James Walton believes a worst-case could leave only £5.6m in reserves. Children's social care could make up £8m of any overspend, along with £5.1m in adult social care. He’s called for new measures to "manage the uncertainty".
