Studies found that, compared to people with care duties, young carers tended to be financially worse off, from an ethnic minority and reported poorer health
I'm John Warburton with news that a new study shows around one in ten young people aged between 16 and 30 are likely to be care-givers, with the majority giving up to four hours’ care a week. Researchers at University College London say their project aims to highlight inequality affecting young carers. Studies found that, compared to people with care duties, young carers tended to be financially worse off, from an ethnic minority and reported poorer health. They also found an increasing proportion of women giving care. Staff say policymakers should use better support and formal care services to help improve equality.
