Referrals reached record levels, with over 170,500 people referred for checks – up 30,000 compared to the same period last year
I’m Paul Hutton with news that record numbers of people have come forward for bowel cancer checks following the awareness raising by Dame Deborah James. Between May and July, referrals reached record levels, with over 170,500 people referred for checks – up 30,000 compared to the same period last year. Dame Deborah campaigned for more public awareness of bowel cancer, and the need to be vigilant about symptoms, before she passed away from the disease in June.
