Regular NHS health checks could be used to estimate the risk of developing various diseases with 70% accuracy
I'm Matt Rosser with news that a study by Oxford University found that data from the regular NHS health checks for people over 40 could be used to estimate the risk of developing various diseases with 70% accuracy. Currently, these checks focus on heart disease but the study suggests they could be used to assess the risk of dementia, stroke, diabetes, liver disease and kidney disease. Researchers believe this could allow for earlier intervention and prevention of these diseases. They also think it could reduce pressure on GPs by better targeting resources.
