New NHS data shows worst start-of-winter A&E delays since records began

I'm John Warburton with news that ambulance bosses say patients are dying on a daily basis because of some of the worst A&E arrival delays ever seen. New NHS England figures show the waiting times for the start of the winter are the worst since records began. According to the first weekly snapshot of statistics, as many as three in 10 patients in ambulances wait at least 30 minutes before being taken on. Meanwhile, Prof Sir Stephen Powis, NHS England’s national medical director, said it’s the start of possibly the “most challenging winter ever” for the health service.
