The NHS has issued an urgent call for more black blood donors with a record number now needed every day to treat people with sickle cell disease
I'm Matt Rosser with news that the NHS has issued an urgent call for more black blood donors with a record number now needed every day to treat people with sickle cell disease. Demand has risen by around 67% over the past five years driven by increasing patient numbers, patients living longer and more people receiving “complete blood transfusions”. 250 donations a day are needed and the service is urging anyone who is eligible to donate blood in what it calls a “selfless act which saves lives by helping those who need it most.” For more care news stay with us here at Care Radio.
