Homeless people missing out on care

A review has found that one of the main barriers to accessing appropriate, timely care is a ‘very limited’ supply of specialist care homes which can meet the complex needs of people who are or have been homeless

I’m Matt Rosser with news that homeless people are ‘missing out on care due to lack of specialist accommodation’ according to London-based homeless charity, St Mungos. It has published a review which found that one of the main barriers to accessing appropriate, timely care is a ‘very limited’ supply of specialist care homes which can meet the complex needs of people who are or have been homeless. In a statement, the UK Government said it was taking action to address this by providing record funding, including £300 million to better join up housing with health and care, mental health services and substance misuse treatment. For more care related stories stay with us here at Care Radio
