The British Medical Association says that GP practices are unable to afford to hire the GPs that they need
I'm Matt Jones with news that GPs across England are struggling to find work despite a huge demand for patient appointments. The British Medical Association says that GP practices are unable to afford to hire the GPs that they need. A shortage of locum work means that there's increased competition for salaried roles at GP practices. The most recent NHS figures show the number of doctors providing temporary cover fell by nearly a thousand in the space of a year. The BMA blames a funding crisis in GP practices for the shortage.
