Future problems for social care services

The next few years could be even harder for social care workers as they look to clear the backlog of cases

I'm Alistair Clarke with news that the pandemic seems to have put people off asking for help for the last 2 years which may be storing up future problems for social care services. A report by the Kings Fund estimates about 32,000 older people didn’t ask for help in 2020/21 meanwhile the number of people that normally get care packages so they can regain their independence dropped by 12,000. The study concludes as these people start to come forward, the next few years could be even harder for social care workers as they look to clear the backlog of cases that build up in Covid. There'll be more on this and other stories here on Care Radio.
