I’m Alistair Clarke with news that October was the busiest month ever for A&E patients in the UK as 2.1 million of us sought urgent care and ambulances responded to 83,000 life saving calls. The health service has just launched a campaign called help us help you that aims to redirect some of these crisis calls to walk in centres, GPs, pharmacies and by calling 111 – that’s because the NHS says 40% of people turning up at the Emergency Department could be treated elsewhere. There’s also a special website 111.nhs.uk to redirect some of the urgent enquiries.
